This precision was a tradition passed down.
But Malini’s cries of pain made me wonder
if being so tightly wound up ever helped anyone?
So what if a few strands did escape.
So what if Malini broke away.
What if she chose a career over marriage?
Are we to stop the future to preserve the past?
I know deep down, both Mai and myself
wanted to be set free. Perhaps if I let her knots
loose enough, Malini could reach much further than us.
